Samsung Galaxy Camera WiFi Edition Launches

Samsung has launched a new Samsung Galaxy Camera WiFi edition this week, which, like the original Samsung Galaxy Camera is equipped with Google’s latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.

However rather than using 3G connectivity the new Wi-Fi Samsung Galaxy Camera is equipped with dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to transfer files via your home network or similar.

To re-cap the Samsung Galaxy Camera WiFi camera is equipped with a 16.3 effective megapixel 1/2.3″ BSI CMOS,  21 x Optical Zoom Lens and powered by a 1.4GHz Quad-Core processor.

“For enjoying and editing images, the GALAXY Camera (Wi-Fi) boasts a large and vivid camera display – a 4.8” (121.2mm) HD Super Clear Touch Display. The GALAXY Camera (Wi-Fi) comes preloaded with powerful photo and  video editing tools, ‘Photo Wizard’ and ‘Video Editor,’ allowing for professional style edits to be made right from the GALAXY Camera (Wi-Fi).”

Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but you can expect the Wifi only Samsung Galaxy Camera to cost less than the 3G model. As soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.

Keyport Slide 2.0 - The Keychain Reinvented

Keyport's developers have created the Keyport Slide 2.0 which has again taken to Kickstarter to make the jump from concept to production.

The new Keyport Slide 2.0 device expands on the technology of the first Keyport Slide and takes it a step further, and has been designed to replace your traditional keychain by combining keys and other everyday-carry items into one streamlined, indispensable device.  Watch the video after the jump to learn more about the Keyport Slide 2.0 project and see it in action.

Luxi ~ Incident light meter adapter for iPhone

For professional photographers, an incident light meter is rather important. Unlike a reflective light meter, which measures the amount of light bouncing off a subject, an incident light meter measures light before it reaches the subject. This is helpful in situations where lighting is inconsistent. A new product called Luxi is designed to turn your iPhone into just such a light meter.

Luxi, when placed over the iPhone's front-facing camera, is able to detect the amount of light falling onto the subject of the photo. The creators claim that it can be used with any light meter application that supports the iPhone's front-facing camera. A deal is in the works to add a Luxi-specific mode to the iOS Pocket Light Meter app.

The difference between Luxi and a light reader that only uses the camera is that it captures light from a 180-degree angle, which, in theory, should help photographers get a more accurate reading of the light in a scene. The creators compared the results of Luxi with a Sekonic L-308 handheld light meter, and they were exactly the same.

Funding for the Luxi is underway on Kickstarter. The creators currently have over double the US$10,000 goal from backers. The device is available for both the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4/4S, with a minimum pledge of $17 for the early bird special. Once those dry up, a $19 pledge is required. Luxi will have a final retail cost of $24.95 when it ships in April.

Casio Exilim EX-N5 and EX-N50 Compact Cameras

Casio has this week added a new addition to their range of Casio Exilim cameras, in the form of the newly launched Casio Exilim EX-N5 and EX-N50, which will support both Eye-Fi and FlashAir wifi cards if required.
The new Casio Exilim EX-N5 and EX-N50 sport rounded body designs and have been deigned to be easily held in the hand, says Casio in its press release.

The new Casio Exilim compact cameras are equipped with a a CCD with an effective resolution of 16.1 megapixels and a wide–angle 26mm, 6x optical zoom lens, together with a 2.7-inch TFT display, Casio explains a little more:

This model features a two–tone silver ring around the lens. While serving as the centerpiece of the whole design, the ring evokes a cool, intellectual image. Casio Exilim EX-N50 :  for a more mature, elegant look Featuring a textured pinstripe pattern applied first, the inner of surface of the front panel is finished with a pearly topcoat. The look changes slightly depending on the angle of the light, while the pearly shine and subdued color scheme creates an elegant impression. The EX-N50 comes in three colors: silver, blue and red.
